Sliding Window / July 14, 2018 / Tearlach DuLin
Sliding window locks are often called vent locks as they allow the window to be locked slightly open for ventilation. The recommended gap is 100mm but never have more than 150mm. The theory is that if a head can get through a window a person can squeeze through. The venting position is not as secure as when the window is shut and locked. Therefore you should only leave your windows locked open you are at home.
Window grills provide very good security and ventilation. Windows can be left open even if you are not home. Window grills are relatively expensive so best fitted in bedrooms bathrooms kitchens or areas requiring good ventilation. If a window lock is correctly installed the glass would need to be broken or a considerable amount of force used to get the window open. Windows are a major part of ones home a feature which not only determines the look of the house but also gives it a special identity. Windows are a crucial ingredient that gives your home its special identity.
The kitchen sliding windows are made of two sashes that can slide horizontally over each other. There is a track that allows the left and right movement of the windows. You can add more that two sashes to make your windows taller and wider. Since the track that is made for sliding of the sashes is little above the ground it doesnt allow the dust to settle on it. This way it becomes easier to maintain the windows and dust will never jam the working of the windows thus increasing its life.
