Sliding Window / July 25, 2018 / Marguerite Mathieu
Sliding window locks are often called vent locks as they allow the window to be locked slightly open for ventilation. The recommended gap is 100mm but never have more than 150mm. The theory is that if a head can get through a window a person can squeeze through. The venting position is not as secure as when the window is shut and locked. Therefore you should only leave your windows locked open you are at home.
Especially good for covering patio doors these window coverings preserve an outdoors look. Some interior decorators also use them as attractive room dividers. The dramatic size of these wall to wall floor to floor window coverings creates a striking image. To install these window coverings you need some kind of track to hold the window frame. Unlike wood blinds where the window and blinds are separate in sliding panels they are the same. Some have tracking on the top and bottom while some only have it on one side.
You will have to gently raise the unit and slide the same in support brackets. Just mark a point where the unit hits the window. Now raise the window and attach the foam strip all along the line properly. If required just attach the extensions on the side wall by using the wood screws. If necessary attach the extensions on the side wall using wood screws. Perform application blocking. Perform application blocking up o the point where air conditioner comes in contact with window. This step will ensure proper sealing and would prevent any cold air from escaping.
